Best Places to Visit in the US for the Holidays

Best Places to Visit in the US for the HolidaysThe United States has many destinations to visit for a wonderful holiday season. If you are planning to travel for business during the holidays, you can find some things to do to bring on the cheer while you are away from home. We have gotten together a shortlist of the best places to visit for business travel during the holiday season.

BEST DOMESTIC TRAVEL DESTINATIONS FOR THE HOLIDAYS

New York

New York has always been the quintessential holiday destination. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off the season of holiday delights. You can catch the Rockettes at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, or you can just see the magnificent window displays on 5th Avenue. You can ice skate at Rockefeller Plaza, and take a peek at this year’s Christmas tree sitting proudly in the plaza. New York City is, hands down, the best place in the USA to celebrate the holiday season.

Boston

You can have an old-fashioned American Christmas in Boston. You are pretty much guaranteed a white Christmas in this New England city. Visitors can skate at Frog Pond in Boston Common, and see the spectacular Christmas lights at Boston Public Garden and Christopher Columbus Park. Head to the indoor Boston Market for a hot chocolate to beat the cold. You can also catch many Christmas-themed performances in Boston including The Nutcracker by the Boston Ballet, and the Holiday Pops by the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra.

Florida Keys

If you prefer your holidays with white sand and palm trees, consider the Florida Keys. The winter temperatures are usually in the mid 80s during this time of year. This makes it the perfect destination for a holiday beach vacation. There is nowhere better to ring in the New Year in Florida than on Duval Street in Key West.

Salt Lake City

This beautiful city in Utah has been a favorite holiday destination for many. This destination has the best of both worlds: it has all the charm of city life but it is surrounded by mountains. The city is also very family-friendly, which is another reason families choose to spend their holidays here. On Christmas Day, you can watch children ski with Santa or tackle some of the famous Utah powder yourself.

Aspen

Aspen is a true winter wonderland. Even if you do not plan to spend your time on Aspen’s spectacular ski slopes, you will have plenty of holiday fun. Every Friday there is a winter party at Elk Camp on Snowmass complete with a bonfire. In early December there is the official Christmas tree lighting in the courtyard of The Little Nell.

Charleston

For the holidays southern-style, head to lovely Charleston. This city is a place where you can do many things — or nothing at all. Many visitors love strolling along the streets to view the Christmas decorations. They also love to visit the Holiday Festival of Lights for some toasted s’mores.

San Francisco

You can have a sophisticated California Christmas in San Francisco. This city has so many walkable neighborhoods all decorated in Christmas lights. In nearby Sausalito, there is the Sausalito Boat Parade along with the Santa Run. The Dickens Fair is the classic A Christmas Carol come to life, and the Italian Christmas Market is worth a visit while in the city during the holidays.

Oahu, Hawaii

Is there a better way to spend the holidays with the coarse sand between your toes and the Pacific Ocean at your feet? There are plenty of holiday activities going on all over the island during the season. Visitors can check out the lights at Honolulu Hale and watch the Christmas Parade. Many food trucks all over Oahu specialize in local food, as well as many holiday treats to help locals and visitors celebrate the holiday season.
